Montclair, New Jersey
Client: Montclair Art Museum
Budget: $ 15 million
Howard Van Vleck, an avid horticulturist in the 1940s, planted the Montclair Art Museum property, also known also as the Van Vleck Arboretum. During the recent expansion of the Museums classic revival building, we focused on preserving the sites legacy and planning for the future. We preserved key trees through re-design, transplanted memorial trees, and relocated specimen shrubs. A long-term master plan for plantings and maintenance ensures the preservation of the sites special character and landscape diversity.
