Union Square Traffic Triangle and Park Restoration
New York, New York
Client: New York City Transit Authority
Budget: $ 3.6 million

The creation of a new traffic triangle on the east side of Union Square Park was a major component of a five-year renovation of Union Square Station. The triangle expands the park and offers a tranquil refuge for pedestrians in the shade of preserved elms and amidst new seasonal plantings, decorative pavements and seating. Additional work at the station involved coordinating with NYC Parks and Recreation to preserve large trees and restore park features and new plantings throughout the southern end of the park.
