The Library Plaza is a major focal point of the Kingsborough Community College campus and a key node in the circulation plan. MNLA transformed an unused sunken plaza into a vibrant and attractive central meeting place for students and visitors alike.  Pavement changes and alignment of seating elements respond to pedestrian movement patterns and future connections.

The campus is prominently situated on the Atlantic Ocean at the east end of Coney Island. Inspired by sea breezes, we created wavelike benches and used shoreline plantings such as sea lavender, switch grass, and blood grass throughout.

The design elements respond to the marine environment, a prominent contextual and academic focus of the campus.
