Located at the base of the dramatic New Jersey Palisades cliffs, this 16-acre park is sited on the shore of the Hudson River. The park faced complex regulatory and phasing challenges, but the ability of MNLA and the township to meet them has resulted in stunning opportunities to enjoy the scenic river.

As a brownfield site, the park had to be fully capped before construction began. Additionally, virtually all of the site lies within the 100-year flood plain and thereby requires plants that withstand the brackish flood waters of the adjacent river. Great care was taken to use native plantings that reestablish a natural riparian landscape along the water's edge.

This site is the largest open space within the township and combines active and passive recreation programming for people of all ages. Active recreation uses include two Little League/softball fields; a synthetic turf football/soccer field; a six-lane, 400-meter long, urethane-cushioned running track; three all-weather tennis courts; and children's play areas. The passive areas of the park include open lawns and a variety of seating pockets providing stunning views of the Manhattan skyline.

Weehawken's Waterfront Park and Recreation Center is located along the banks of the Hudson River.
